Currently, we have information on four persons managing UV monitoring programs within Italy. Alcide Giorgio di Sarra (ENEA, CLIM-OSS) oversees a broadband and a spectroradiometer in Lampedusa. These two instruments make up part of the European Database for UV climatology and Evaluation (EDUCE). The meters have undergone regular calibration. Casu Giovanni (Experimentation Centre of Italian Air Force Meteorology/RESMA (Reparto Sperimentazioni di Meteorologia Aeronautica)/HEAD) and Malaspina Fabio (special Observatons and Measurements Section of RESMA, HEAD, GAW Ozone/UV programmes contact point) operate three spectroradiometers near Rome, Brindisi, and Messina. Please contact Mr. Giovanni or Mr. Fabio for more information.

Dr. Anna Maria Siani, from the Physics Department at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", operates both a broadband and a spectroradiometer on the University campus. The instruments have undergone recent yearly calibrations, and data has been submitted to the European Database for UV Cliamtology and Evaluation (EUDCE). Contact Ms. Siani form more information.

Claudio Rafanelli, from the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate, operates both two spectroradiometers in/near Antarctica. The instruments were installed in 1994, have been calibrated recently, and the Belgrano II instrument report its data to the World Ozone and UV Radiation Data Centre (WOUDC).
