Sweden is an active member of
NOG
(Nordic Ozone Group), established to
coordinate research activities on ozone and ultraviolet
radiation in the Scandinavian countries. The Swedish Meteorological
and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) produces a Swedish UV-index and information of stratospheric ozone.
The prognoses are developed in cooperation with the
Swedish Radiation Protection Institute (SSI)
and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and are distributed to media and the
public.
Currently, there are two broadband and one spectral instrument operating in Sweden. Together, they form the SMHI's
network to which all data are submitted to. A down available through the SMHI web site will be available soon
for all data requests. All instruments are regularly calibrated and two of the three have
participated in intercomparison exercises. Funding is provided by the Swedish Radiation Protection Authority
and the Swedish Environmetal Protection Agency.
