UV Index programs have been used since the late 1980s as an effective way to educate and warn the public about current UV levels. The following sites provide UV index predictions for the next day. Most provide valuable explanatory information for interpreting the index levels and appropriate steps for avoiding excessive UV.

Guidelines for a standardized UV Index for use worldwide were released in 2002 and are now being implemented. More information is available by viewing the PDF document Global Solar UV Index: A Practical Guide.

Europe Europe European Cooperation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research (COST) 713 is an international effort to forecast UV-B radiation.

Mexico SIMA Mexico The Sistema de Informacion Ambiental (SIMA) offers daily UV-B Index reports for Mexico City. The site is offered in both Spanish and English for the 8,000,000 American visitors to Mexico each year.
Mexico Mexico SIMA also provides an IMECA index indicating UV-B levels for regions within Mexico City along with other air quality factors, including sulfur dioxide and surface ozone. The site is offered in both Spanish and English.
